Interview with the Project Manager for the Digitization Department Berlinische Galerie

RENCAY:
What was your motivation to buy a Rencay scanning system?

Mr. Fassbender:
The scanning solution was acquired under the ERDF-funded digitization project MUDISA for the Berlinische Galerie in 2013 as a complete system (Scanning back, camera, repro column, lighting, and software). For our requirements Rencay offered the optimal solution in quality and features and was within our budget.

RENCAY:
Can you briefly describe what were the requirements of the request for bids?

Mr. Fassbender:
The vendor had to install the proposed system on-site and create sample scans of different materials of the digitization project. These results were then analyzed by an outside professional service provider and compared to scans of the same material, made on their best scanner at the highest quality.

The Rencay results were outstanding in resolution, exact color match, sharpness and the true reproduction of tones. Also in terms of mobility, the Rencay system matched our tender demands because the location must be changed at times during the digitizing project. The Rencay system was easy to move and setup in a new location with repeatable results.

RENCAY:
How has the Rencay solution proven is value within the project over the years?

Mr. Fassbender:
The Rencay solution has proven itself very well, and we are extremely satisfied.
With the Rencay equipment we have had continuous and trouble-free production with short scan times and high throughput.

RENCAY:
How would you evaluate our "Renview" scanning software?

Mr. Fassbender:
The Renview software has a well arranged and easy-to-use interface. The preferences and image adjustment settings for image quality, file size, resolution and color profile before scanning are very straightforward.
