Technology Comparison:
Trilinear true RGB 48Bit vs. Bayer RGB

The trilinear Rencay scan provides full RGB color information with 48-Bit color depth for each individual pixel. This technology produces very high image resolutions up to 2808 Mpixels.

Depending on the application, a lower resolution in the range of 78 to 2808 Mpixels can be selected (e.g. for higher throughput with faster scans and smaller files). The image quality achieved will exceed that of other capture systems because the image is from pure RGB data.

Conventional one-shot digital camera systems typically use a Bayer matrix sensor. These are monochrome sensors with a Bayer filter pattern applied. Each pixel records only one color — 50% of the pixels are green-sensitive, 25% red-sensitive and 25% blue-sensitive. To create a full color image the Bayer raw data has to be interpolated or “developed” with complex algorithms.
